Moving to California and Living in a Car
In this episode Donté Richardson talks about how, at age 19,
he drove across the United States to California on the promise of
“just a job interview”.
With little income, despite landing the job, Donté was homeless
for three months, and today credits his resilience and his drive
for getting him through those toughest of times.

Donté Richardson
Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in a suburb outside of the city, Donté Richardson developed a passion for writing which led to an interest in film making from a young age. Receiving his first camera - a VHS camcorder - from his grandmother, he started making short films and editing reels while he played with the other children at daycare.
At 19 Donté drove over three days across country to California on the promise of “just a job interview” which led to him experiencing homelessness first hand, while working a full time job.
Today, he works at Warner Bros. and spends his time absorbing those who have paved the way; Jim Rohn, Tyler Perry, Guy Raz and Marques Brownlee.
With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, his goals include starting his own film production company (Donté Richardson Studios).
I'm grateful for my resilience!
